The virtual swarming of the RC Saigon International in the Year of the Tiger

02/20/2022

More than 70 participants followed the invitation of District 1940 to RC Saigon International, chartered in Jun 2021. The 22 members, led by their president, Anh Vu, impressively presented the beauty of the country, but also the important projects the young club has already carried out to make life more bearable in the region. In cooperation with other clubs, 368 wheelchairs have been distributed to those in need, ten oxygen concentrators for a Covid hospital ward, new incubators have been procured to support workers who have not been allowed to return to their hometown due to COVID restrictions, and much more.

On a very nice journey from the north of Vietnam to the south, PP Laubichler-Pichler finally took us to his Alma Resort Cam Ranh.

Kelly Vo, founder of "Dear Our Community", accompanied us through vibrant Saigon and also showed us the special places like "Deutsches Haus", post-office, craft-house, and the Bach Dang Riverside Park, showing the beauties of the city.

Finally, we also learned about the history of the Caravelle Hotel, one of the hotels from which most journalists in the world reported on the Vietnam War at the time. It is the club's current meeting venue.

The memory of the war is still alive today. As a result, the club is already looking for ways to use youth exchanges as a peace-building tool with Germany and other countries.

After the meeting, one thing was clear to the participants: "We wish the young club good luck with all projects and look forward to stimulating as many contacts as possible in the region."
